A ceramic workshop and feast mass.
DEC 9-15 2011 Xavier Mañosa (Apparatu) came in all the way from Barcelona to do a 5-day conference and workshop for 25 students of the UP College of Fine Arts. The pieces created during the workshop, a cross-pollination between holiday cuisine and ceramic arts, were exhibited at The OCD Showroom in Makati for the 2011 holiday season.
A feast mass (micro-grant crowdfunding supper) was held at the exhibit site for social entrepreneurs to network and fund each others’ projects. Each diner was asked to pay 1000 Php (20 USD) at the door, and during the dinner 6 presentations were made by individuals who were looking to complete a socially-oriented program for the amount of the total door charge, or 30,000 Php. At the end of the dinner, guests voted for the best project: a traditional brick oven in Siliman University which is being used to teach locals how to cook native slow food, without instant powders or MSG.
