Editorial work for a design school catalogue
Idep Books is the editorial brand conceptualized and designed for IDEP School by Miquel Polidano Studio. OCD acted as contributing editor for both volumes of the school's 2013 academic catalogue. The volumes are unique and indivisible books that include conceptual photo and text to support the academic marketing information on undergraduate and post-graduate courses offered at IDEP School.
The books were packaged together, with pages interlaced, creating a curious effect: if one pulled them from spine, they could not be separated, no matter how hard you pulled. They slid apart easily when pulled from the left and right upper corners, opening like a fan. This was a conceptual nod for IDEP's interdisciplinary approach.
For the editorial section of the undergraduate book, students who had created the best thesis projects were asked to submit all the sketches involved in their production process, sealed within an envelope. The contents were photographed as cornucopia and published in the book. Images of the what the projects actually looked like were not included. This emphasized the school's emphasis on method and process. OCD contributed to the cornucopia shoot as part of the art direction team.
The multi-page editorial for the post-graduate volume is a transcription of a meeting of the academic directors of IDEP. Their discussions surrounding the academic framework for the schoolyear were transcribed, verbatim, and then condensed for easy reading. The meeting was then commented in pencil by the "stenographer," Lobregat Balaguer for OCD.
